South Point Elementary School observed the 9/11 Anniversary on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
Remembering the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, South Point staff and students circled around the flag pole in front of the building. They were joined by area emergency responders, including members of the Washington Police and Fire Departments, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Washington Area Ambulance District.
The group recited the Pledge of Allegiance together and then sang the U.S. National Anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner.” A moment of silence was then held.
Following the ceremony outside, the emergency responders, veterans and other guests each were assigned to a classroom at South Point Elementary and spoke to the students about the 9/11 Anniversary and also read the younger grades a children’s book.
