Washington High School's Elizabeth Reed (KLPW), Annelise Obermark (Missourian) Named Athletes of the Week
Washington High School varsity girls basketball player Elizabeth Reed is the KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week.
Washington High School wrestler Annelise Obermark is the Washington Missourian Athlete of the Week.
Elizabeth Reed
Reed, a 5-3 sophomore guard, was named to the Lutheran South Tournament All-Tournament team, leading the Lady Jays to a third-place finish.
Reed leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game. She has connected for 19 three-pointers and is shooting 71 percent from the free-throw line. She scored 25 points against Union and 27 points against Sullivan in games earlier in the season.
“Elizabeth draws the attention of opponent’s defenses as they scheme to stop her from having a big game. As of late, her teammates have begun to take advantage of this as our scoring has become more balanced,” said Washington Head Girls Basketball Coach Doug Light. “Her quickness, speed, and long-range touch have been problematic for opponents. She’s a hard worker in practice and always pushes herself.”
Reed also is a member of Washington High School’s state champion softball team.

Annelise Obermark
Obermark, a sophomore, won her weight class at the GAC Championships by recording two pins and two byes, helping the Lady Jays to a second-place team finish.
Obermark has won two tournament titles this season, also claiming top honors at the Raytown South Tournament.
On the season, Obermark owns an overall record of 22-4.
