Fifth- and sixth-grade students in the School District of Washington participated in a Math Madness competition at Washington High School on Thursday evening, March 30.
Washington High School’s Mu Alpha Theta hosted the math competition in the CJB Theatre. The elementary students divided into small teams, representing their schools, and worked on a series of mathematical problems, equations and solutions.
Points were totaled following every round.
There were prizes awarded to the best decorated student table, the top three highest scoring teams in each grade, and a prize for an individual student who could recite the most decimal places of Pi.
Owen Spaunhorst from Clearview Elementary recited 104 correct decimal places of Pi.
