Maggie Butler, music teacher at South Point Elementary, is the February recipient of the Blue Jay Pride Award.
The Blue Jay Pride Award was introduced to recognize and showcase quality School District of Washington staff and the focus on the District’s core beliefs. Through peer nomination, individuals are able to acknowledge exceptional staff who positively impact the schools, district and community.
The individual who is recognized each month will be presented with a traveling plaque and gift card.
Butler’s nomination form states the following:
“Maggie is an amazing music teacher. She always creates student centered programs. The students are the leaders and Maggie steps back and lets them shine. She works endlessly to make sure she picks and designs programs that are fun and engaging for the students. The community turnout at these events is amazing and she always receives the most positive comments. She is a true blessing to our school.”
Butler was presented the traveling plaque by SDOW Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart and South Point Elementary Principal Aimee Harty. She also received a gift card from the Bank of Franklin County.
