The Four Rivers Career Center was one of the stops for the Leader Exchange Trip to Washington on February 7 and 8.
The group was made up of approximately 40 community and business professionals from the Independence area who made the trip to Washington to take a tour of the town.
The Leader Exchange group met with a number of professionals in Washington and visited many places along the way.
Thursday’s agenda included a welcome from Mayor Sandy Lucy and a working lunch at City Hall, where they received an Overview of Washington (Demographics and Economy), Washington Parks and Recreation, Washington Area Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Programs and Incentives, Tourism Industry (Life as the Heart of Wine Country), and Downtown Washington, Inc.
On Friday, one of the stops was the Four Rivers Career Center, where the group spent approximately 90 minutes touring the building and the different programs.
In the Confluence Room, Superintendent Dr. Lori VanLeer and FRCC Director Andy Robinson spoke to the group about the school district, FRCC and the Confluence.
Also speaking the group were Washington High School Principal Dr. Kelle McCallum and CAPS Global Business and Entrepreneur instructor Cathy Jinkerson.
Additionally, current CAPS Global Business and Entrepreneur students shared some of their experiences from the program and projects they’ve worked on.
