WHS Senior Karlene Hoch Named Recipient of Washington Historical Society Scholarship
Karlene Hoch, a senior, was Washington High School’s winner of the Stanley and Marjorie Wilke Memorial Fund $1,000 Scholarship, presented by the Washington Historical Society.
Each applicant for the Stanley and Marjorie Memorial Scholarship Fund was asked to complete a project related to the history of Washington, Missouri.
“Karlene’s submission was a wonderful human interest piece focused on the unique history of Krog Park and the efforts of the Washington Historical Society and City of Washington to bring it back to light,” said Katie Dieckhaus, Executive Director of the Washington Historical Society. “The Education Committee of the Society was pleased to honor her efforts.”
Hoch’s research project was presented in video format and was titled "Krog Park’s Interesting Past."
The recipient from Borgia High School was Sam Dunard.
Hoch and Dunard were invited to attend the Spring Dinner and Meeting on April 13 at the Knights of Columbus in Washington, where they were recognized.
Karlene is the daughter of Brett Hoch and Michelle Turner. Following graduation, she will be attending Webster University. She's been accepted into the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts and hopes to pursue a degree in Illustration with a minor in Psychology.
