Washington High School 2023 graduate Julia Donnelly has been named the Washington Missourian Female Athlete of the Year.
Donnelly, a three-sport athlete, earned all-state honors in cross country, wrestling and track and field during her senior season.
During the fall cross country season, Donnelly posted a second-place finish in the Class 4 girls race at the MSHSAA Cross Country Championships in a time of 18:52.4.
During the winter wrestling season, Donnelly capped her standout wrestling career with her third state medal, defeating Liberty’s Jaden Breeden by a 4-2 decision in the Class 2 third-place match at 110 pounds for her highest career finish.
During the spring track and field season, Donnelly earned all-state honors in two Class 4 events. She finished in eighth-place in the girls 3,200-meter run in a time of 11:27.55. She also was a member of the 3,200-meter relay team that placed fifth in 9:50.92. Also on the relay team were Josie Keiser, Izzy Von Behren and Leah Wheeler.
“Julia is just a warrior. She is one of those kids that is going to fight for everything she can get,” said Washington Cross Country and Track Coach Mike Olszowka.
“Words can’t describe what Julia has brought to this program, not only for the girls team, but also the boys team,” said Washington Wrestling Coach Josh Ohm. “She has produced for us at an extremely high level. She brings leadership and energy to the team. I have never met a bigger competitor than Julia.”
