Washington High School hosted the Iron Jay Girls Wrestling Tournament on Friday, January 21.
Washington and Lafayette tied for the team title with 101.5 points.
Rounding out the team standings were Eureka (79), Rockwood Summit (77.5), Pattonville (50), Festus (45), Troy (35), Francis Howell (31), Francis Howell North (22), Pacific (13) and Orchard Farm (4).
The Lady Jays were led by Kendra Bliss, who captured the 120-pound title in dominating fashion. She win four of her five matches by pin and the other by technical fall, improving to 40-1 on the season.
Reaching the finals of their respective weight classes and claiming second-place honors for Washington were Nina Zimmermann at 105 pounds (28-10 season record), Julia Donnelly at 110 pounds (25-5 season record), Stella Secor at 125 pounds (24-13 season record), Annelise Obermark at 135 pounds (32-8 season record) and Brianna James at 141 pounds (12-11 season record).
Washington’s third-place finishers were Ava Griffey at 115 pounds (15-12 season recored), Lindsay Sprung at 130 pounds (25-8 season record) and Maggie Ortmann at 149 pounds (23-18 season record).
Also competing for the Lady Jays were Lindsey Mueller at 100 pounds and Kristin Sprung at 159 pounds.
