FFA Members Attend Leadership Conference in Washington D.C.
Posted on 06/26/2023
Evie Bryson and Blake Deppe, members and officers of Washington High School FFA, were among several hundreds of students traveling to Washington D.C. this summer. From June 13-18, they spent the week under the guidance of professionals, counselors and FFA staff.

In workshops, seminars and small groups, members focused on developing their personal strengths and goals while undergoing comprehensive leadership training that will help guide their local FFA chapters. The capstone of the event was a civic engagement activity where participants applied what they learned in a hands-on activity.

Members also analyzed the needs of their communities, developed wide-ranging and high-impact community service initiatives and implement their plans with the help of their FFA chapters when they return home.

Students in recent years have promoted agricultural literacy, brought attention to abuse, collected and distributed goods to those in need, and created a hunger awareness plan and more.

FFA members experienced the history of our nation's capital and tour landmarks, including the National Mall, Arlington Cemetery, Smithsonian Museums and the US Capitol.

Washington High School FFA is part of the National FFA Organization of more than 850,000 student members in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.

Evie and Blake were selected from a pool of applicants who applied for scholarships through both the Washington FFA Alumni Chapter and the Missouri FFA Alumni Chapter. They also received many generous donations from businesses and friends in the area, some of which included Bank of Franklin County, Reichers Tire and Auto, Falling Timber Farms, Bank of Washington and Knight Show Pigs.
