Washington High School girls soccer player Jessie Donnelly recently was named the
Washington Missourian Athlete of the Week, sponsored by First State Community Bank.
Donnelly, a sophomore forward/midfielder, is off to a hot start to the season, registering six goals and one assist in helping the Lady Jays to a 3-1 record heading into Monday’s game against Ft. Zumwalt South.
Washington opened the season by winning the Warrenton Tournament. Donnelly had five goals and one assist in three games at the tournament.
“She was able to control the middle of the field and distribute the ball to her teammates to start many scoring opportunities,” Washington Soccer Coach Adam Fischer said about Donnelly’s performance at the Warrenton Tournament. “Jessie is a sophomore who has earned a starting spot on the team for the second consecutive year. She is one of the hardest workers at practice and games, and she’s always willing to play wherever she is needed.”
