The School District of Washington is excited to take part in the “STL Teacher Proud” campaign, put on by Education Plus, as an effort to highlight the amazing teachers who choose to serve the St. Louis community and inspire others to join the noble profession of teaching. On the second Tuesday of each month, we’ll highlight a SDOW teacher who chooses to make a difference every day.
Teacher Proud Tuesday – Maggie Butler, Music Teacher, South Point Elementary
Maggie is in her 17th year in education, seventh with the School District of Washington. This is her fourth year as the music teacher at South Point Elementary. She’s also taught music at Augusta, Marthasville, Labadie and Washington West. Before joining the SDOW, Butler was with the Shawnee Mission School District in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, for 10 years.
“I love being a part of the South Point Elementary family,” Butler said. “The students have an infectious enthusiasm and the staff is amazing and so easy to work with. I’ve never worked in a new building and this one is beautiful. South Point Elementary is a great place to be for students and staff.”
