Chief Mason Griffith Foundation AwardWashington Police Officer Matt Cooper recently received the Chief Mason Griffith Foundation First Responder of the Week Award.

Cooper currently serves as the school resource officer at Washington Middle School.

During his time with the Washington Police Department, Cooper has been the Crisis Intervention Team representative for his department and works closely with all agencies in Franklin County to better assist those individuals who are struggling with crisis. He serves as the chairman for the Franklin County CIT Council.

As the school resource officer at Washington Middle School, Cooper has greatly made impacts on students and staff just by being present with his fun, energetic and welcoming personality.

In September, Cooper spent two weeks in DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) school preparing his journey to teach students about the dangers of drug use.

Cooper continues to prove his dedication with his commitment to the community. He loves being a police officer and the brotherhood that it provides.
