Washington High School’s breakthrough varsity football season came to an end on Friday, Nov. 8, with a 56-7 loss at Camdenton in the Class 4 District 5 semifinals.
The Blue Jays ended their season with a 9-2 overall record. Camdenton remained unbeaten at 11-0.
Washington’s lone score came on a 44-yard interception return for a touchdown by Ryan Hoerstkamp in the first quarter.
The Lakers jumped out to leads of 19-0 before Hoerstkamp’s interception and extended the advantage to 34-7 at halftime.
Camdenton quarterback Paxton DeLaurent threw for 376 yards and six touchdowns.
