It’s been almost a decade since the San Rafael High football team posted a non-losing record. Thanks to a two-point conversion the Bulldogs went for in the fourth quarter, that streak is over following a come-from-behind, 23-22 win against Drake on Friday night. San Rafael quarterback Jack Miller ran for a touchdown in the final 5 minutes to pull San Rafael (5-2, 2-1 MCAL) within a point. Coach Mark Lubamersky opted to go for the lead. “There was never any doubt in my mind that we would go for two.” Lubamersky said. “The book says go for the tie at home and go for the win on the road. Well, I didn’t read that book. No one wants overtime — that’s what my book says.” Miller threw a pass to Drew Caveney to put the Bulldogs in front for the first time all game. Drake (2-6, 0-4) jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first half but Miller led the Bulldogs back, running for two touchdowns and throwing another to Griffin Rudy. Miller finished with 161 passing yards and 55 rushing yards. Caveney caught seven passes for 55 yards while Rudy had four catches for 71 yards.
