FFA Members Attend 91st National FFA Convention
On Wednesday, October 24, 2018, seven members of the Putnam County FFA left for Indianapolis, Indiana to attend the 91st National FFA Convention and Exposition. Those members were: Whitney R, Hannah M, Guin A, Jaylen W, Tori G, Emily D, and Maggi F. Also attending were FFA advisor Randy Morris and wife, Sara Morris. On Wednesday, after a day of travel, the group kicked off the convention by attending the opening session and enjoyed the keynote speaker, Kyle Scheele. Afterward, the group went to Lucas Oil Stadium and watched the incredible Garth Brooks Concert.
On Thursday, October 25, the Putnam County group spent the morning viewing the hundreds of exhibits at the agricultural careers show and expo. That afternoon the members attending a leadership workshop and followed that by enjoying great performances from FFA members in the National FFA talent show.
On Friday, October 26, it was time to see some attractions of Indianapolis. The first tour was the home of former president Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd president of the United States. Following that tour, the group enjoyed the NCAA museum and Hall of Fame. Friday evening was spent at a convention session, where the Putnam group heard the retiring address of National FFA Secretary, Erica Baier, and the keynote speaker, Judson Liapply.
On Saturday morning, October 27, we attended the American Degree Ceremony where we got to see our very own Tanner Bondy receive his American FFA Degree. Congratulations Tanner! Indianapolis was a great experience and those that attended learned many things got to meet new people and made lifelong memories.
