Where Are They Now?
This is the first in a series of articles highlighting the achievements of past winners of the
UHS/PCHS Alumni Association scholarship. Since the first scholarship awards in 2008, the
alumni association has given $13,000 to PC graduates. This year’s scholarship deadline is
Monday, July 18. Scholarships are awarded to college students who have junior standing or
higher. Applications are available in the PC R-I Superintendent’s office or from the school web
page, www.putnamcountyr1.net.
Lisa Hodges Stobbe graduated from PC R-I in 2007 and was awarded a $500 scholarship in
2008. She entered college as a sophomore due to the number of college classes she completed
during high school. Lisa graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 2010 with a
bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Science Education. One year later she completed her
master’s degree from NWMSU in Educational Leadership.
After graduation in 2010, Lisa came home to Unionville and began her teaching career at Putnam
County R-I. She teaches middle and high school FACS and is the FCCLA (formerly FHA)
advisor. Lisa also coaches varsity cheerleading, guiding her team to a state championship in
2015. She stated “The students I teach sit at the desks I sat in and wear the uniforms I wore, so
it’s especially rewarding to invest my time into a school I believe in.”
Lisa married Clint Stobbe of Eagleville and has a one-year- old daughter, Savanah. Clint works
for Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri, and the family lives at Lake Thunderhead.
Shannon Anderson McLain, a 2005 graduate, was awarded the alumni scholarship in 2008. She
graduated from William Jewell College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology,
Organizational Communication, and Critical Thought and Inquiry. Shannon went on to earn a
Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Nebraska
Lincoln in 2012. She currently is a speech language pathologist for a middle school in the
Lincoln Public School (LPS) district. LPS is the largest school district in Nebraska. Shannon
says, “I work with 6-8 th grade students with a wide variety of abilities, helping each one become
a better communicator. There is never a dull moment and I am constantly challenged.”
Shannon married Chris McLain (class of 2007) August 6, 2011. Chris works as a welder for
TMCO, a manufacturing company in Lincoln. There were blessed with a son, Oliver Anderson,
on November 11, 2015. Shannon and her family live in Hickman, a small community ten miles
south of Lincoln.
Regarding her education at Putnam County R-I, Shannon stated, “I am grateful for the
experiences I had at Putnam County. I am thankful for the opportunity I had to be involved in a
variety of extracurricular activities, develop close relationships with teachers, and challenge
myself through dual credit college classes.”
Bradley Hines, a 2006 PC graduate, was awarded an alumni scholarship in 2008. After attending
Northwest Missouri State University for several years, he graduated in 2014 from the veterinary
school at the University of Missouri. Dr. Hines joined the Corydon Veterinary Clinic after
graduation and works there with another PC grad, Dr. Lucas Whitney, DVM (class of 96). Dr.
Hines works with both large and small animals and works the livestock sale in Unionville on
Tuesdays, something he says he really enjoys. He stated, “I have a very full schedule, but love
the work.”
Brad married Jessie Cooper in 2009 and they have one daughter, Hollie, born July 4, 2015. In
2009 Brad and Jessie moved to a farm house in northern Putnam County that was his great great
grandfather’s house, becoming the seventh generation of his family to live on the farm. Brad’s
grandfather, David Noel, owns the farm. Brad stated, “The farm was a big draw for me. I really
didn’t like the city, so I always intended to come home to Putnam County.” To accommodate
their growing family, Brad and Jessie purchased the former Larry Ross home on route U last
year.
