III. NEW BUSINESS

  1. COVID Safety Equipment Discussion – Andy Pirami was in attendance to demonstrate a misting gun for sanitizing and discuss other methods of sanitizing around the school.  He explained that no matter what other sanitizing methods are used, you must clean areas before you disinfect with no matter which disinfecting method you chose. He explained that there are chances that viruses can build immunity to certain disinfecting methods.  They cannot build immunity to UV lights used to disinfect.  They would be mounted in corners to attempt to cover the entire room.  They have motion sensors so that if someone comes in the room while they are on, they will automatically shut off as they can damage eyes.  Luke pointed out that only surfaces would be disinfected and not sub surfaces such as undersides of desks, chairs, etc.  Andy agreed stating that is why the mechanical cleaning has to take place first and be done correctly.

Some things to consider when making these purchases is man hours plus product along with the cost of the misting machine, as these can add up to more than a more expensive item like the UV lights.

Also, remember some people can have sensitivity to cleaning products and masks or respirators may be required for the person applying the disinfectant with a misting machine.

Melissa has a price of $900 for a mister and the disinfectant to go in it.

Andy has given a price of $975 per UV light.  Installing in 6 rooms would be $5850, this does not include the electrician costs of installing them.  Andy will get a price to Melissa on a mister like he demonstrated.  It was discussed that it may be a liability to only install the UV lights in 6 rooms.  To cover all of the rooms we could need approximately 10 or 11 UV lights at a cost of approximately $11,000 not including the electrician costs.

The board thanked Andy for coming and will consider this information.
