COVID-19 UPDATE: February 9th, 2021

Pioneer Elementary School Letterhead

Pioneer School District 41

February 5, 2021

Dear Panther Families,

As mentioned previously, one or two symptoms as outlined by our district’s sick policy and COVID-19 Guidelines will send and keep staff home for 2 – 10+ days. This new, but very important protocol, and a lack of available staff and substitute teachers can put a district in a difficult situation, very quickly and this has proven to be true this week.

Due to a recent exposure and staffing constraints, it has become necessary to move from Plan A (full capacity) to Plan C (full remote learning) Wednesday, February 10, 2021 – Monday, February 22, 2021. We will resume Plan A on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 pending that the staffing issues have resolved. Students will finish out the school day today, but we are unable to resume in person learning tomorrow.

We do not enter into this decision lightly as we are aware of the difficult situation this places many of our Panther families in. However, we simply cannot run a school without a staff.

Students will be sent home with devices today, and remote learning will begin tomorrow. If your student is not here today, and needs a device, please text the school to arrange a time for pickup.

As always, we appreciate your support as we navigate these unprecedented challenges. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Be well, Panthers!

Sincerely,
Melissa Schnitzmeier
