  1. OPENING
  1. CALL TO ORDER:

Chairperson, Christina Olstad called the meeting of the trustees of Pioneer Elementary School District #41 to order in the Room 105 of the main building, Monday, April 13, 2015 at 6:05 pm.  Chairperson, Christina Olstad welcomed all those attending.  Chairperson, Christina Olstad read the Montana Law about public meetings.

  1. MINUTE APPROVAL: Brad Zink made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of March 9, 2015.  Brandon Roth seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous; the motion carried.
  1. HEARING OF THE PUBLIC: None
  1. LEAD TEACHER REPORT:

April 16 – Kindergarten Round up

April 17 – Carnival

April 20 – 24 – Smarter Balance testing

May 1st – Track Meet

May 4th – All grades to Shepherd – mile run

May 14th – Volunteer Lunch

May 14th – AR Store

May 15th – 6th Grade Skip Day

May 15th – Box Social/Talent Show

May 22nd – Last Day of School

  1. OLD BUSINESS
  1.  2015- 2016 CALENDAR REVIEW – Marilyn presented the calendar with the 2 PIR days, March 14 and May 2nd that the staff had talked about plus one other vacation day (April 18).  This makes a total of 178 days as in previous years.  Brad made a motion to adopt the 2015-2016 calendar as presented.  Brandon seconded the motion.  The vote was unanimous; the motion carried.
  2. MBI – Melissa informed the board that the summer MBI conference is open for registration.  She is still waiting to hear who all will be attending.  The board was asked if they are still considering paying for renewal credits.  The conference is $275 per person for early registration, after June 1 it is $290.  Grad credits would be $250 per teacher.  Brent stated that we are into the classroom part of MBI and it is time to start educating the public and parents about MBI.  Melissa will continue checking on grad credits and working on Tier 1 and Tier 2 and recognition.  Brent is trying to get another consultant to help with SETS.  These items are tabled until the May meeting.
  3. ADMINISTRATOR EVAL – Mr. Bassett submitted a letter of resignation for his Administrator Position.  The board accepted his resignation.  Han will post the position in OPI website.

III.  NEW BUSINESS

  1. NON-RESIDENT STUDENT APPLICATION – The meeting was closed at 6:10 to consider two out of district student applications.  The meeting reopened at 6:25.  Brad moved to accept Allison Martin and Elijah Bouchard as new kindergarten students and to accept the reapplication of Carson and Tucker Adkins and Aiden Martin for the 2015-2016 school year.  Brandon seconded the motion.  The vote was unanimous; the motion carried.
  2. MSSA Membership Renewal for 2015-16 – The membership in MSSA was discussed.  The cost will be about $2500 to renew.  The due date is in June.  Amber stated that she and Jami had attended two seminars and were very impressed with both of them.  The MAPS testing is much cheaper through MSSA.  Brad moved to renew the MSSA membership.  Brandon seconded the motion.  The vote was unanimous; the motion carried.
  3. SCHOOL GROUDNS USE FOR SOCCER PRACTICE – Han checked with the insurance company who recommended having all parents of children using our playground for soccer practice sign a waiver relieving Pioneer School of liability if a child is injured.  All of these waivers have been signed by the parents of children on the soccer team.  Brandon moved to allow the soccer team to use the field on Tuesdays and Thursdays through their soccer season.  Brad seconded the motion.  The vote was unanimous; the motion carried.
  4. 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR SCHOOL NURSE CONTRACT – The school nurse contract amount will be $3876 compared to $3493 last year.    Brad moved to accept 2015-16 school nurse contract for the amount of $3876. Brandon seconded the motion.  The vote was unanimous; the motion carried.
  1. MARCH FINANCIAL REPORT

The clerk presented claims warrants numbered 20238 through 20261 in the amount of $6,250.70, and the payroll warrants numbered 8802 through 8809 in the amount of $40,987.50.  The ACH and Direct deposits were included in the amount. The clerk presented the trial balance sheets for each fund and a monthly report stating each line item YTD and budget balance remaining for the each fund.  After review of the report, Brandon Roth moved to approve the financial reports.  Brad Zink seconded the motion.  The vote was unanimous; the motion carried.

  1. TRUSTEE CONCERNS

MAIL – The following items were read.

  1. A letter from Montana Shakespeare in the Parks was ready.  They thanked our school for letting them come and commended the students for their behavior.
  2. Suggestions for school security from SRO at Shepherd
  3. Inter-State Studio regarding their service for the students pictures
  4. Reminder letter to parents regarding non-resident student renewal policy

OTHER CONCERNS

  1. The board asked what the teachers would like for teacher appreciation.  It was decided to purchase flowers for the teachers and Blues BBQ lunch.  Brandon will pick up the lunch.  The teachers will be asked what day they would like it depending on what other things PTA has scheduled.

VI .  ADJOURNMENT: 

A motion was made by Brandon Roth to adjourn the meeting. Brad Zink seconded the motion.  The vote was unanimous; motion carried.  The meeting ended at 7:30 pm.  The next scheduled regular meeting is Monday, May 11, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in Room 105 of the main building.
