She was the youngest participant at the USA Softball Women’s National Team Camp(84 mph) in September, 1994 in Oklahoma City, where she was selected to represent the USA at the Pan American Qualifier in Guatemala. In the Junior World Championship, Pan American Qualifier - Gold medal, and a member of the 1996 United States Olympic Softball Team! Member of USA Team that won gold medal at 1998 ISF World Championship in Japan. A team member of two Texas state softball championships - and an Olympic CHAMPION! |

She is entering her third season in the National Pro Fastpitch. In 2005 she was among the league leaders in wins, strikeouts and Earned Run Average. She should again compete for the pitching triple crown in 2006. Christa was also announced to be the Pitcher of the Year for 2004. Christa's other experiences consist of the following: Member of the Team USA that won the Gold Medal in the 2000 Olympics, 1996 Olympics, 1999 US Olympic Cup, and 1998 ISF World Championship. She also attended the USA Blue which finished third at the 1999 Canada Cup and was presented the Top Pitcher Award and was the youngest participant at the USA Softball Women’s National Team Camp in Sept. 1994. In her international debut, she pitched two shutouts and a perfect game to help the USA National Team go 15-0 and win the Pan American Qualifier. She went 3-0 with 45 strikeouts and no earned runs in 19 innings. Christa, at a national level, was a bronze medalist at the 1998 and 1999 Coca-Cola USA Softball Women’s National Team Festival, a member of the North squad that won the silver medal at the 1997 USA Softball National Team Festival, 1997 ASA First Team All American, 1996 ASA Second Team All American, U.S. Olympic Committee Athlete of the Month in July 1995 and placed Third in the 1995 ASA Girl’s 18-Under Gold Fast Pitch National Championship, and Seventh in 1996.

Five Years after giving up racing, Ezzell was one of the top women U.S. speed skaters in the 1990s, winning 12 world championships, but she gave it all up in 2001 to get married and have a family. This Hall of Famer, puts her speed skates back on and wins the 2006 Texas Road Rash inline skating marathon, but this time skating as Cheryl Ezzell Matula.Today, she lives in Halletsville, Texas, with her two sons and works full-time as a hospice manager and attends classes two nights a week to become an assistant physical therapist.
