Residential Services

Students at the Mississippi School for the Deaf who live outside of the Jackson Metropolitan area stay on campus.  Students who are unable to commute daily, dormitories, nutritious meals, and basic health care are provided at no charge.

Parents can be assured that their children are in a safe and pleasant home environment and are under constant supervision by well-qualified Residential Education Staff.  The residential education staff members assist students with daily homework, skills of everyday living, social skills, and other scheduled activities to help them become independent, as well as productive, citizens in society when they leave MSD.

Residential students have many opportunities to enjoy various on-campus and off-campus activities in Jackson and the surrounding areas.  Some of the extended day activities include soccer, sewing classes, cooking experiences, grocery shopping, attending local sporting events, cookouts at the reservoir, Getting It Right manners classes, dancing classes (salsa, hip hop, ballroom and line dancing), and many more.  

Parents are asked to provide linens, towels, clothing, personal care items and incidentals for their children.
