Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to MSD, where anything is possible!

My name is Dr. Tara Brister. I am so excited to be principal here at MSD. I have 20 years of experience in education serving various roles. I received my Bachelor’s in 2003 in Deaf Education, Master’s in 2015 in school leadership, and Doctorate in 2022 in district administration. All of my degrees are from The University of Southern Mississippi.

Fun fact: I completed my student teaching here at MSD in 2003 and I couldn’t be happier to be back in a leadership position.

My primary goal for our school is to provide all resources possible to ensure we are a Deaf friendly environment for the students, staff as well as the community.

We will work towards a true ASL and English bilingual education so that our students can reach their maximum potential.

We strive for strong academics, social-emotional learning, and value community interactions.
