Mountain Brook Elementary’s new 2021-2022 PTO board is up and running with the new school year. Each officer brings a renewed energy to the organization as this year welcomes new beginnings.
Led by president Amy Moore, this year’s officers include Stephanie Brown (President-elect), Shannon Cooley (Vice President of Volunteers), Lindsey Druhan (Vice President of Technology), Julia Doster (Vice President of Fund Development), Carla Ward (Vice President of Communications), Susannah Baker (Vice President of Events), Erica Neel (Vice President-elect of Events), Ashley Seligson (Treasurer), Lora Retherford (Treasurer-elect), Kate Mather (Secretary) and Ashley Inscoe (Parliamentarian).
Throughout the summer, the PTO prepared for the upcoming year by planning welcome events and creating a new website. It was an especially busy time for those in charge of fundraising for the schools. The PTO’s Lancer Sponsor Campaign seeks donations from MBE families to provide direct support for the schools’ needs. Fundraising efforts kicked off with the PTO conducting direct outreach to MBE families and filming a video for parents’ open house night that highlighted the ways the school was able to use previously donated funds. PTO members also organized back-to-school events like the Newcomer Party for new students and parents and a teacher luncheon. The PTO also helped plan a meet-and-greet before school started that allowed teachers to introduce themselves as students begin to navigate a new learning environment.
Vice President of Technology, Lindsey Druhan, worked hard to create a new MBE website that integrates the student directory, Membership Toolkit, with the original website content. The new website now provides one place to access the online directory, purchase sportswear, and stay informed on the latest MBE news. MBE parents interested in learning more about the PTO and how to be involved should visit www.mbelancerpto.com.
These initial efforts by the PTO leadership have set MBE on the right track for a great year. President Amy Moore believes “serving MBE through the PTO benefits not only our students and teachers but our entire community.” She, along with the team of PTO officers and volunteers, are looking forward to this year at MBE where Lancers lead from the heart!
