Miss Goings is so excited about beginning her third year at Mountain Brook Elementary! Her ultimate goal is for every one of her students to fall in love with learning, from the first day of school to the last. Miss Goings wants each student to see her still excited about learning. She desires every aspect of her methodology and pedagogy to work towards this ultimate goal. She will strive to not only plant seeds, but to nurture and care for the soil. When the soil is carefully tended, the roots are able to grow deeper, creating a strong foundation for the plant to grow and flourish. Miss Goings believes the first years of school are instrumental in forming deep roots that will last a lifetime. She wants her students to feel part of a safe environment that challenges them to grow physically, cognitively, socially, and emotionally. 

Miss Goings moved to Mountain Brook in 6th grade after spending her childhood on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, TN. After graduating from Mountain Brook High School, she went to Mississippi State University. She graduated from MSU in 2020 with a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. Miss Goings moved back to Birmingham to continue her education at Samford University, earning a Masters degree in Elementary Education (K-6). 

Outside of the classroom, Miss Goings loves spending time with her friends & family, reading books, traveling and enjoying nature. 

Miss Goings believes a love of learning is cultivated, it does not just happen. With the proper soil, roots are able to grow deep down, allowing plants to flourish. She cannot wait to meet the seeds that will soon take root and grow!
