Mrs. Jones is delighted to teach 1st grade this year at MBE.  She has been teaching since 2001 following her graduation from the University of Mississippi where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.  As a native of Meridian, Mississippi, Mrs. Jones returned to her hometown to teach Kindergarten and 2nd grade until 2005 upon moving to New Orleans to teach Kindergarten.  She also taught 1st grade in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as in Oxford, Mississippi.  While in Oxford, Mrs. Jones spent a decade teaching both first grade and Kindergarten before moving to Birmingham in 2017.  She also taught pre-k at Riverchase Day School prior to teaching at MBE.  

Collaboration with teachers, students and parents is very important to Mrs. Jones as both a learner and an educator.  She is genuinely interested in cultivating relationships with parents and students, as well as facilitating each student’s journey through lifelong learning. Mrs. Jones is committed to challenging and engaging each child to effectively meet each individual's academic and social/emotional needs.  She wants children to feel safe, challenged, and loved.  

During her free time, Mrs. Jones enjoys spending time with her family and friends.  She and her husband, Will, have three children:  Harper (4), Jack (10), and Ava (13).  They especially love spending time together doing outdoor activities.
