Intern Insights w/ Summer Intern Allie, signing in for her 4th Blog Post: Enjoying every minute of this job!

Hello, my name is Allie, a soon-to-be junior at Milpitas High School and 2024 Summer Intern with Milpitas Unified School District through the City of Milpitas' Milpitas Youth Force. I started this blog, "Intern Insights," to share my experiences while offering a student perspective throughout my internship this Summer!

Greetings, everyone! I’m halfway through my third week working in the MUSD offices and things couldn’t get more exciting and busy then they are now! I have been doing a variety of jobs. This week, I have been working with Van Le, a District Office Administrative Secretary, sorting through lots of kindergarten through 6th grade Reading / English worksheet books in the old theater right by the MUSD district offices. Each school year, the workbooks that aren’t used are sent back to the district office, we reorganize and rebox them by grade level and unit, and then ship them back out to sites that need them for the following year. Though this task is quite a handful, since Van is just such a sweet, kind, and considerate person, working with her is just a blast and makes time just fly by.

Also this week, I have been working with the MUSD Human Relations Team to continue to update the staff directory photos. Since much of HR work is confidential, I had to schedule concrete times with them to enter their offices, take their photos, and then return to process the images. This takes quite a while as I like to take my time ensuring that every face has the right lighting to best enhance their features and showcase their best qualities. I found a love in photography back in 6th grade when I was about 11 and ever since then, I can’t wait to have the chance to have a camera in my hands. Hence, why I love coming to work everyday and being able to capture fun photos and have a chance to further improve my skills in photography and photo editing. 

So to cut a long story short, being able to work in such a fun and collaborative environment such as the MUSD district offices is such a blessing. I can’t wait until the next time I can write to you all again! Hope you have a great rest of your week and an even better Fourth of July!
