Parenting Tips During COVID-19
|
Parenting during COVID-19 can be stressful while sheltering at home.
Younger children may not have the words to describe feelings and are more likely to act out their stress, anxiety, or fear through challenging behaviors. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that you use positive discipline by reinforcing good behaviors and address children’s fears. Tips for parenting younger children during the pandemic can be found here. Social distancing requirements may be especially hard for teenagers, who may feel cut off from their friends and regular activities. Teens may understandably feel disappointment as milestone events such as graduations, proms, and other events are cancelled or postponed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Tips for parenting teens during the pandemic can be found here. |
