    We will be covering the following topics in this class throughout the year.

    Class Rules

    1. The only drinks allowed in class is their water, no eating will be permitted in class due to the mask rule.
    2. Phones must be put up out of my sight. They will get one warning then the phone will be taken up and brought to the office.
    3. Students must begin the warm up immediately when they enter the classroom.
    4. No Spitting, Cussing, Hitting, Touching, or Throwing things.
    5. Follow all class procedures.
    6. Be Courteous and Respectful to everyone.
    7. Have all necessary materials for class
    8. Due to COVID-19 students will NOT be allowed out of their seat without permission from me.
    9. Students will not be permitted to share supplies, and I will not be able to let students borrow supplies like they are used to doing with their teachers.
    10. Students may not touch ANYONE or ANYTHING but their own stuff and the desk they are seated in.

     

    Grading Policy

     

    40% - Tests

    60% - Quizzes, Minor Grades

     

    Materials for class

     

    Refillable water bottle, there will be no water fountains on due to COVID-19. Students will be able to refill their own water bottles at filling stations. Students will NOT be allowed to share water bottles.

     

    LAPTOP- STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE THEIR LAPTOP IN CLASS EVERY DAY, IT MUST BE CHARGED!

    Tissue Box (will be an assignment- “My Cultural Box”)

    Pen or Pencil to write with on a daily basis (I don’t care what color it is, as long as I can read it)

    Please understand that each child will be expected to bring something to write with daily.

    Course Description:

    o   The historical content focuses on the political, economic, and social events and issues related to industrialization and urbanization, major wars, domestic and foreign policies, and reform movements, including civil rights. Students will be able to examine the impact of geographic factors on major events and eras and analyze their causes and effects. Students will be able to examine the impact of constitutional issues on American society, evaluate the relationship of the three branches of federal government and analyze efforts to expand the democratic process. Students will use a variety of primary and secondary source material to understand and interpret the past, including multiple points of view and historical context.

    • 1990’s to Present: Dealing with Challenges Home and Abroad.

    Classroom Norms:

    • RESPECT—Respect others, their property, and their right to learn.  Students are expected to treat other classmates and the teacher with respect and courtesy.
    • RESPONSIBILITY—Come to class every day with the required materials. Be prepared and ready to participate. If you are absent from class, you are responsible for your make-up work. I will not hunt you down.
    • BELL-TO-BELL—Be seated and on task when the bell rings and wait for me to dismiss you (not the bell) at the end of the period.
    • ASSIGNMENTS—Assignments are due at the beginning of class. 
    • LEAVING THE ROOM—Visit the restroom, water refilling station on your own time. If you must leave the room, first ask permission.
    • CELL PHONES— MAY NOT BE OUT FOR ANY REASON EVER IN THE CLASSROOM. THEY WILL BE TAKEN UP AND TURNED INTO THE OFFICE IF THEY ARE OUT.
