Ms. Madison Peterson
Hello! My name is Madison Peterson, and this semester I will be teaching 7th Grade Life Science, PLTW Computer Science for Innovators and Makers, CodeSpace: Intro to Python, and PLTW App Creators. I was born in Zhejiang, China, but I mostly grew up in Decatur, AL, where I currently live. I completed my internship for UAH teacher certification at Liberty and also completed my first year last year as a teacher here. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology from Troy University and my Master of Science in Entomology (insects) from Auburn University before deciding I wanted to move from research into education. I became interested in computer science a few years ago and have been gradually increasing my skills in block-based and text-based programming.
I enjoy cooking, art, and puzzles in my free time. I am also the VEX IQ Robotics Club coach. I am passionate about the little things in science--the important things that often get overlooked, like insects--and hope to inspire my students to observe the world a little more closely and appreciate all its complex parts.
I am excited about this school year! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or interest in science, computer science, or robotics.
