I live in Madison with my engineering-extraordinaire husband, Justin; awesome daughters Cady and Austen; and our rescue pups, Marcie and Hamilton. We enjoy all things active and spend most of our free time in the great outdoors/on a soccer field somewhere.
I pursued my first degree in English and played women's soccer at the University of Southern Miss from 2004-2008. After earning my undergraduate degree in 2008, I moved to the Madison/Huntsville area to begin working toward my teaching certificate and Master's degree in English and Secondary Education. During that time I transitioned from my K-1 position at Premier Preschool and worked outside the field of Education as the Marketing Director for Sodexo at UAH. By the time I finished my Master's work at UAH, I had acquired a new perspective on professional writing and the ever-evolving nature of written communication, both formal and casual. I try to keep this professional perspective in mind when designing units for my classes! I have since taught 7th, 9th, 11th, and 12th grade English, and I have been teaching English and coaching Girls' Soccer at James Clemens since 2013!
