    Principal Parkinson

I began my teaching career in the fall of 1993 and have thoroughly loved the 25 years I spent as a classroom teacher at Sky View High School.  More recently, I’ve enjoyed serving as the North Cache Assistant Principal over the past four years.  Currently, I am excited to launch into my 30th year as an educator for Cache County School District as the Principal of North Cache Middle School and will continue to strive to Make A DiffereNCe in the lives of our students, faculty and staff, and their families each and every day.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and friends.  I am fortunate to have been married for the past 33 years and blessed with our four children, two bonus children, and two beautiful granddaughters who are my pure joy.  I love traveling with my favorite destinations being one with lots of sun, sand, & surf OR the mountains with plenty of trees and gurgling streams.  I enjoy digging my toes into the sand while listening to the surf, AND I love to fish, explore trails on an ATV, and enjoy a perfectly toasted marshmallow from a glowing campfire.

The following quote explains my WHY for coming to work everyday with purpose and a smile, “Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.” (Marian Wright Edalman).

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” -Nelson Mandela. I love this quote because it embodies the reason I love being in the education field, Change.

My name is Dee Downs; I grew up in Smithfield, Utah and now currently reside there with my wife, our two boys, and our dog. I love sports, riding dirt bikes, riding longboards, being with my family, and the outdoors. I am excited about being your new Assistant Principal and building new lasting relationships with all of you.

I have been teaching for 8 years. 2 years at Mount Logan Middle School where I taught Utah History/Physical Education and 6 Years at Spring Creek Middle School where I taught Physical Education/Educational Skills. I received my Bachelor's degree from Utah State University in Social Studies and later received my Master’s Degree from Western Governors University in Educational Leadership. Before I started teaching school, I worked in the construction industry and went to Bridgeland Technical College, where I studied to be an electrician as well as, the opportunity to volunteer with the Smithfield Fire Department as an EMT/Firefighter. I value all these learning experiences and feel that each have changed me for the better.

I hope as you come here to North Cache you make new lasting friendships. I hope you care for each other and “be the differeNCe”. Let change happen and mold yourself into the person you know you can be. “If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you”-Unknown. Embrace the challenge and persevere!

    GO BULLDOGS!!!!!!!
