Welcome back to school!

Dear South Cache Families,
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! We’re excited to have a new start to a great year. We have three goals this year. 1. Have a caring community of students, teachers, and staff. Care for each other in a positive, productive manner. 2. Have an emotionally and physically safe school for all students. 3. Obtain high levels of learning in each of our classrooms. We have wonderful teachers that care about students, their classroom environment and their student’s individual learning. This will help prepare each and every student personally in a positive direction of success, happiness and well being. When a group of motivated people put their heads together to educate youth, incredible things happen. I am very grateful to be a part of this school.
Another goal we have is to improve our ability to communicate to parents. To help us accomplish this goal we would ask all parents to please review your contact information in PowerSchool to make sure it is accurate and up to date. We will also work to keep the website up to date with the most current information.
Mr. Winkler and I love working as the administrative team here at South Cache. Between the two of us, we have nearly 50 years of experience working in schools. We really enjoy helping youth grow and develop. We love our jobs and are excited to get to know our incoming 7th grade class while continuing to push our 8th grade students to new heights.
We are firm believers in open communication and in working together to solve problems. I believe that having strong partnerships between home and school is a key factor to ensuring that all students can learn at a high level. As principals, our doors are always open and we welcome your input. As research shows, there is a strong correlation between student academic success and parental involvement. Again, we look forward to working with you and your students this year.
Some upcoming dates and items to be aware of:
-
Teacher “Meet & Greet”: You will have a chance to meet our staff, including a few new faces, at our “Teacher Meet and Greet” on Monday, August 19th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The purpose of this evening is for you and your student to meet your teachers, familiarize yourself with the campus, and practice opening your locker. Bear River Health Department will conduct an immunization clinic from 3:00 - 6:00 pm in the media center. There will not be class change services that evening.
-
Registration: Fees can be paid online at https://schoolcashonline.com, mailed to us, or dropped off at the main office.
-
Office Hours: The school will be open from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday from August 5th through August 21st. Students are welcome to come practice opening their lockers and learn their way around the building at any time during these days.
-
Immunizations: All incoming 7th graders must have their immunizations up to date prior to the start of school, or have completed an immunization exemption form.
-
School lunch and breakfast: Lunch will cost $2.35 per day and breakfast will cost $1.75 per day. As usual, free and reduced cost waivers are available. Ala Carte is not included in the free and reduced lunch program. Ala Carte items are charged on a per item basis. If a student eats a second meal, they will be charged $3.65 for a second lunch and $2.20 for a second breakfast. You are able to pay into your lunch account at the following URL: https://ezschoolpay.com or you can pay with check or cash in the main office.
-
School start and end times: School start and end time will be from 8:00 am to 2:45 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00 am to 1:30 pm on Fridays. The school calendar is available both on the district and school websites. In the interest of safety, please do not drop off your student prior to 7:30 am as there is no supervision before that time. Also, please pick up your student prior to 3:15 pm for the same reason.
-
Attendance: Please call the school if your student will not be attending. Unexcused absences must be excused by a parent or legal guardian within 5 school days of the absence. Please have your student(s) to school on time. Students who consistently arrive late are at a clear disadvantage and usually arrive feeling frantic and unprepared. All students who arrive after 8:00 am must check in at the office prior to going to class.
-
Dropping off and picking up your student(s): If you are dropping off or picking up your student(s), please use the circle drive on the south side of the cafeteria building. Please do not drop off or pick up your student(s) on the north side of the school. This is for buses only.
-
Bus Routes: Bus schedules are available online: Go to the Cache District webpage: https://www.ccsdut.org/transportation Please be advised that routes and times change and are not finalized until a week before school starts.
-
Friends of South Cache parent volunteers: Parents will have an opportunity to sign up to volunteer occasionally throughout the year at our Teacher Meet and Greet- back to school evening on August 19th from 3:00 - 6:00 pm.
-
School Newsletter: Each month a school newsletter is sent home telling you what is happening at South Cache. It is also available on the school website: https://www.ccsdut.org/Domain/506
As a reminder, the first day of school is Thursday, August 22nd for all 7th and 8th grade students. We look forward to working with you and your students!
