Review School Mission, Vision, Goal
- Mission: Ensure all students leave our school ready to create a positive future for themselves and their community.
- Vision: MLMS provides a safe environment to inspire life long learners who have the skills necessary to be engaged citizens in their community, country, and world.
- Goal: 90% of our students will master essential learnings as measured by team developed common formative assessments for each content area.
Review Current School Improvement Plan
- Celebrations:
- Since Paul Guymon started Professional Learning committees MLMS has been growing more than average, which is great.
- ELA as a whole school has improved 10% since 2014-15
- Steady improvement as a school
- The Hispanic achievement gap trending down in science. ELA is good. Trending good overall
- Concerns:
- Math especially and a bit of science is dropping. Math is not up to the state.
- There is a gap for 6 th grade year, but closing in 7 th and 8 th grade. What could be happening between 5 th and 6 th grade?
- Helping Limited English Proficiency group
Plan to focus on 3 things
- Academy classes (additional 42 minutes of instruction for kids struggling)
- Instructional coaching (we have 1 ½ coaches from landtrust funds)
- Learning Academy (focus on ELL instruction)
Paul will let us know what our carryover from last year is soon.
Take todays meeting and think about what we can do together as a SCC.
Community Concern
Is there a way for the SCC to encourage the newspaper to compare Logan schools to schools of similar demographics instead of the other schools in the valley with significantly different demographics?
