Joplin Schools utilizes the Visitor Aware system to ensure the safety of our students. Before allowing access into the school building, all visitors are background checked through the Visitor Aware system. Throughout a typical school day, the visitor presents their State-issued ID, which is run through a background check in the system. Once clearance is given in the system, the office staff confirms the reason for the visit and allows the visitor access to their destination within the building.

When considering large school events during the school day, alternative measures must take place to ensure efficiency while still maintaining safety as our top priority. Moving forward, Joplin Schools will utilize a pre-registration link for visitors to RSVP several days prior to a large school event. Visitors will be required to pre-register with that link, which requires the entry of a State-issued ID. For individuals unable to complete this process electronically, they should work directly with the school office prior to the day of the event.
