Ms. Daphine Hamm

I was born and raised in Columbia.  I was raised on a farm where we grew peanuts, corn, cotton, and small grains.  I am a 1995 graduate of Houston County High School.  I went to Wallace College then transferred to Troy University, where I majored in Comprehensive Science with a concentration in biology.  I went on to farm with my family until my dad retired. Then, I worked at Gunderson Rail as a forklift operator and got my first welding experience, and I moved on to work at Kelly Ag until I took my first teaching job at Cottonwood High School.  I love to hunt, fish, ride horses, and be busy in general.  I worked as the agriscience teacher, FFA sponsor, volleyball, and softball coach at Houston County High for four years before moving into a junior high science classroom.  I am devoted to students here at Houston County High and will continue teaching each one of them about science and educating them using all the real-life experiences and examples.  I continue to farm and raise all kinds of livestock to provide the kids here with a hands-on learning experience.
