Health Science 1

Healthcare Science prepares students to provide healthcare services for the community.  The courses provide a solid foundation for a further education in a wide range of medical and health related careers, including:

• Doctor
• Nurse
• EMT
• Nursing Assistant
• Physical Therapist
• Physician Assistance
• Veterinarian
• X-ray Technician

Program Goals

The purpose of this program is to provide high school students with: 

• Introduction into the healthcare system
• Assistance in making career decisions
• Entry-level employment in a healthcare job
• Acceptance in a post-secondary healthcare program
• Develop students' leadership skills

Courses Offered:

Healthcare Science I:

• Students are introduced to medical terminology
• Students become CPR/1st Aid certified with American Red Cross
• Students learn basic safety and standard precaution related to a healthcare setting
• Student will learn complex skills related to illness while investigating
