Meet the Coaches

    Head Coach Matt Beshear
    Matt Beshear has been coaching with the Maroons for the past 12 years. In this, his eighth season, he will be the entering his third year as Head Coach of the Maroons. A graduate of MNHHS and the University of Kentucky, Coach Beshear desired to enter the coaching ranks as kind of a “family business.” Matt is the son of longtime West Hopkins Coach Jim Beshear, who spent 20 years on the Rebel’s bench. 

    Matt currently teaches Health and PE at Madisonville North Hopkins High School, and he and his wife, Kilee reside in Madisonville.  They have two daughters, Kennedy and Kate.

     

    Assistant Coach Trevor Rhye
    A graduate of MNHHS, Trevor Rhye is now in his tenth year as an assistant coach for the Maroons. He brought collegiate coaching experience along with him from a two year stint on the Thomas Moore College staff. Prior to that, he played for the Saints as a starter for all four seasons. 

    For the Maroons, Trevor will again be the Head Freshmen Coach and a top assistant at the Varsity level. Trevor currently teaching Special Education at MNHHS and resides in Madisonville.

     

    Assistant Coach Sam Huskey
    Sam Huskey returns as an assistant for the Maroons with Coach Beshear, but tenth overall. Having coached basketball in Hopkins County for the past 13 seasons, Coach Sam has a familiarity with the players that is valuable to the program. 

    He has spent the past 17 years in Madisonville after having served in the armed forces and helping coach at American High School in Germany. He and his wife, Tonette have one daughter, Samantha.

    Assistant Coach Silas Matchem

    Silas J. Matchem Sr. is a former player of MNHHS 1994-98. Silas graduated in 1998 and attended college at Western Kentucky University where he successfully received a Bachelor's degree in Corporate and Organizational Communication and two Master's degrees in Administrative Leadership and Public Administration.

    Silas is happily married to Mrs. Genia Matchem of Glasgow. They have four children together Nia Matchem, Madison Matchem, Kennedy Matchem, and Silas J. Matchem Jr. Silas has previous coaching experience in the Barren County area with the middle and high school programs.
