AP 2-D Art and Design

  • AP 2-D Art and Design: In the AP 2-D Art and Design class, students will be completing a portfolio of artwork that demonstrates a thorough understanding of composition (the elements of art and principles of design), craftsmanship, a wide range of techniques, and creativity.  The digital and physical art portfolio will consist of 20 images and will be scored by AP CollegeBoard readers based on college art standards. Visual Arts I

Visual Arts I students will explore a variety of media including pencil, pen, printmaking, collage, watercolor, and acrylic paint.

Visual Arts II

Visual Arts II includes perspective drawing, color theory with a focus on acrylic painting, relief printmaking, and a sculpture unit.

Visual Arts III

Visual Arts III includes a photography unit. The students will also work on completing additional works in a variety of media to create a strong portfolio.

Visual Arts IV

  • Students who elect to pursue a fourth year in the Visual Arts Career Academy participate in an independent studio environment.  Students will evaluate their prior portfolio and will prepare additional work during the year to be submitted for scholarships, admission to programs, or employment after high school.
