Meet the Teacher
-
Hello,
My name is Scott Richmond. It is a joy being a part of the Verdugo Woodlands community and especially, being a part of the FLAG Japanese Program as a fourth grade English teacher.
I grew up in South Central Texas. After two years of college, I joined the United States Marine Corps. I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA but toured most of Asia, Africa, and a small part of the Middle East. After being discharged, I went back to Texas and obtained my BBA, from Texas State University.
After seventeen years in business, I chose to switch careers in order to spend more time with my family. I earned my teaching credential and Master’s Degree from Biola University. I have been teaching for the past ten years, and have thoroughly enjoyed my career change.
As for my family, my wife taught middle school life science for fifteen years, and now teaches high school biology and earth science. My daughter is a third year graduate student at Claremont Graduate University. Her field of study is economics. Finally, my son is a senior in high school taking AP and honors classes, and looking forward to applying to colleges in the fall.
I love to travel with my family. I also enjoy exercising, competition races, cycling, hunting, watching collegiate sports, and last, but not least, reading.
