Mrs. Kimberly Pitt
My name is Kimberly Pitt, and this year marks my 15th year in education. The teaching profession has always been an important part of my life, and I knew at an early age that I wanted to teach elementary school. My mother taught third grade for 46 years, and some of my fondest memories are when I helped her in her classroom. My brother teaches third grade in La Canada and my sister teaches first grade in Oregon.
Throughout my eleven years in the classroom I have mostly taught fourth grade, and I’ve also taught fifth grade and kindergarten. For four years, I worked as an Elementary Teacher Specialist in the Teaching and Learning Department for GUSD. Last year I taught 4th grade at Mountain Avenue and this year I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade.
I graduated college in 2005 from UC Riverside with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology. I attended Cambridge University in England for a semester abroad during my undergraduate time. Following my undergraduate work, I attended Cal State Channel Islands to earn my multiple subject teaching credential, and I started working as a substitute teacher in Camarillo and Thousand Oaks. Then, I moved home to Pasadena and started working in La Canada Unified. I also lived on the westside and taught in Beverly Hills Unified District for six years, then came back to La Canada Unified after moving again.
I earned a Masters of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from WGU in 2021. My husband Jeremy and I have three kids; Hayley (8), and twin boys Johnny and Cody (3). We love to travel and spend lots of time together as a family.
This will be my sixth year in Glendale Unified, and I am so happy to be a part of the wonderful school community at Mountain Avenue. I am really looking forward to a fantastic school year with your kids!
