Franklin's Green Lunchroom Initiative
To comply with two state laws about waste sorting, and to help reinforce environmental literacy, Franklin has a waste sorting program at mealtimes. The more waste we sort for composting off-site means less money Franklin has to pay for hauling away trash, and more money in the budget for teaching and learning! There are two ways families can help:
1 💚Help our kids learn to sort their trash at breakfast, snack or lunch during the school day. This is a volunteer effort that is teaching our children environmental literacy as well as how to be good stewards of their campus. This also helps us comply with recent California laws around waste reduction at schools and businesses. You can sign up for a Green Lunchroom shift if you have availability during the school day anytime between 11-1. You can watch a short video about what this entails on the right:
2 💚 Pack your child a zero-waste lunch.
