    Policy Overview and Frequently Asked Questions

     

     

    Absences:  Report absences to lisaghoolian@gusd.net. Include name, teacher, date, and reason.  Absences not cleared within 3 days becomes a truancy. You may still receive an automated call by the district.

    Birthday and Classroom Parties:   There are only two classroom parties every year.  Parties are school activities and siblings are NOT allowed.  Birthday celebrations are not allowed in classrooms.  Treat bags for birthdays are permitted with teacher’s consent and should not include unopened food items or items with nuts.  They will be distributed at the end of the day.

     

    Class InterruptionsOnly lunches and instruments brought in late will be placed on the counter for students to pick-up at recess.  All other items will not be accepted.  Students will NOT be called out of class. 

     

    Dress Code: Closed-toe shoes/socks should be worn every day, More details on website.

     

    Emergency Information: Contact information must be updated using the Parent Connect website (link on our website) or let us know.  Accurate information is required so we may notify a parent immediately in case of emergency.

     

    Illness:  Students must be kept home for 24 hours after they are fever free.

     

    Injuries:  Students requiring crutches, casts or any other device will need a doctor’s note which includes the physical limitations and the length of time involved.  

     

    Leaving Early:  Students leaving early must be signed out and picked up in the office. They will be called from class when you arrive and released only to persons on emergency card. Notify child’s teacher in advance so that they will receive the assignments for the day.

     

    Lunches:  Students may bring a lunch from home or at our cafeteria at no charge.

     

    Medication During School:  A form is required and signed by a doctor to enable students to take medications, including OTC.  Please come to the front office to initiate process.

     

    Staying informed about school events and announcements:

    • Sunday evening Principal Calls, make sure your contact information is up to date!
    • Weekly Thursday Folders
    • Konstella – Communications on classroom, PTA/GESF and school-wide events.  Go to www.konstella.com and select Glenoaks Elementary School from list of schools.

     

    Tardies:  Students must be punctual.  They are considered “tardy” if they are not in their seats at the beginning of instruction ready to learn. 

     

    Volunteer/Visitors: No one is allowed on campus unless for a specific purpose.  All visitors check in at front office, clear covid compliance and wear a badge at all times.  

     

    Lost & Found:  Please label all items for your child.  Ask them to regularly check for items in the Lost & Found.  Unclaimed items will be donated before winter break and end of school.
