Gilboa-Conesville Central School

Mrs. Tyree's 4th graders recently spent a morning creating Colonial crafts. They dipped candles, made tin punch ornaments, wove textiles, and created yarn dolls. We are grateful for a wonderful group of parent volunteers that made the morning a success.

Mrs. Tyree's 4th grade class recently had a visitor from Greene County Soil and Water. We learned about the importance of the watershed and how it works to create a water supply. The most exciting part was playing with the interactive sand table to explore how land changes affect the watershed.

Our next Wildcat Wonders assembly will be on Friday, February 2nd at 9:00 a.m. in the auditorium. All community members are invited to attend this event. During the month of January, we are focusing on the character trait of Empathy. We will celebrate those students who exemplify empathy at the assembly. We will also have a special presentation by our Pre-K and Kindergarten classes on the trait of empathy. We hope to see you there!

Please be advised that Mural Club will meet every Tuesday throughout January from 3 p.m.-5 p.m.

For any student in grades 7-12, interested in playing spring sports (baseball and softball), sign-up sheets are posted outside Ms. Owen's office. Practices will begin in March. Student-Athletes need an up-to-date physical on file with the school nurse (Mrs. Cox) and need an up-to-date Health History form filled out to practice.

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Soccer team for being recognized by NYSPHSAA as a Scholar-Athlete team this fall. In order to qualify as a team, 75% of a team’s average GPA for the fall must be equal to or greater than 90%. Excellent work both on and off the field ladies!

Congratulations to the Modified Girls for winning their season opener last night as they hosted the Hunter-Tannersville Wildcats! The final score was 24-18. Jaidyn Sutton and Addison Bruck led the team with 11 points each and Delaney Hughes pulled up for a short jump shot to add another 2 points. Everyone contributed with some great passes and tough defense. The girls all worked hard to run their offense and are developing a strong defense for the season. Great job by everyone.

In light of the ongoing excessive rain and resulting road closures, we are implementing an early dismissal for all students at 1:00 today. The safety of our students is our top priority, and this precautionary measure aims to ensure their safe journey home. Please make necessary arrangements to pick up your child promptly at 1:00. Buses will also depart at 1:00 to accommodate the changing conditions. We appreciate your understanding in these unforeseen circumstances. If you have any concerns or require assistance, please contact the school office at 607-588-7541 There will be no afterschool activities including the CROP program, and no afternoon BOCES. The Varsity girl's game scheduled for today (12/18/23) at Windham has also been canceled. No practice today.
