The Faculty and Staff here at GCCS would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Cole Ritter!!!

Mrs. Case and Ms.Owen took the Sports Marketing and Sports Law classes to UAlbany's 16th Annual Education Day! The students got to sit down with UAlbany’s Deputy Athletic Director and talked about working in collegiate athletics and answered any questions our students had! They then took a quick tour the the UAlbany Men’s Basketball team locker room! Then we watched the UAlbany Women’s Basketball Great Danes take on the Binghamton Bearcats, in the newly built Broadview Arena! About 3,000 students attended this event! Thank you UAlbany Athletics!

On February 2nd, our CROP students enjoyed the afternoon sleigh riding on their decorated and recycled cardboard sleds. Recycling was one of the recent clubs they participated in. The students learned all about how recycling reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills, conserves natural resources, prevents pollution, and reduces greenhouse gases.

On Friday, February 2nd we celebrated the character trait of Empathy at our Wildcat Wonders assembly. This month's Wildcat Wonders were Emily Robinson, Aiden Palmisano, Lilly Alley, Gunner Proudman, Cora Bouck, Matthew Peters, Olive Cline, Amelia Alberti, and Madison Chontos. Thank you for exemplifying empathy. You make GCCS a better place!

The Regional ScrippsSpelling Bee was on Saturday, February 3rd at the State University at Oneonta. The Daily Star has been sponsoring this event for many years. Thank you Daily Star. Avyn Graham, 6th grade, and Layla Bellinger, 8th grade were our GCCS participants. Both students went through round 3 and were exemplary representatives of our school. Super job Avyn and Layla.

The Daily Star is doing its Salute to 2024 Senior Athletes section again this year and is currently accepting submissions. Parents/guardians can fill these out at the following link: https://www.thedailystar.com/salute. The site says submissions should be in by March 3rd but anything sent by the 8th or 9th should be able to get into the section. The section is scheduled to be published on Wednesday, March 20th. A reminder that anyone submitting photos that require a photographer credit needs to make sure they have the permission of said photographer.

The Gilboa/Windham Varsity girls defeated Franklin in overtime Friday night, 57-52. Hannah Tuttle led the scoring with 27 points and 13 rebounds! Ashtyn Hansen added 20 points and 16 rebounds. Caitlyn Ciaravino finished with 5 points and grabbed 18 rebounds! Selina Li finished the night with 5 points. Keep up the hard work! The girls clinched the #4 seed in league play and will face the #1 seed South Kortright in the Delaware League Tournament on Tuesday at South Kortright. Come out and support!
