Framingham Youth Theatre (FYT) is an inclusive and immersive arts experience for Framingham Public School students entering grades one through eight. The four-week summer program is designed for performers of all levels with an interest in theatre arts. Educators from the award-winning Framingham Fine and Performing Arts Department provide instruction in acting, dance, voice, and stagecraft that culminate in a fully realized musical theatre production with all FYT students. Bus transportation and meals are offered.
The goal of FYT is to develop students' sense of self and community through theatre arts experiences that support them to express, celebrate, and advocate for themselves as both individuals and artists. Teachers support students as they develop into creative thinkers, confident expressers, collaborative and innovative problem solvers, and socially responsible individuals who have a life-long appreciation for theatre arts and take joy in expressing themselves artistically, creatively, and collaboratively.
At FYT, students are encouraged to take risks in a safe space with caring adults. In Summer 2024, FYT runs Monday through Friday, from July 8 to August 2, from 8:30–3:00 each day. Students are grouped by grade for class sessions in all areas of musical theatre, creative play, and community building activities, and then join together for performance rehearsals. The production for FYT’s Summer 2024 season will be Madagascar Jr.
Please note that all FPS summer program information will be made available on March 1, 2024.
