Clovis Unified’s Measure A is on the ballot this November. Measure A is a facility bond measure that maintains a stable tax rate and would provide for: 
  • Safety, energy efficiency and technology upgrades for ALL schools.
  • Modernization and repairs to aging schools.
  • Completion of our new high school to ease overcrowding.

Clovis Community College: High School Enrichment

The Clovis Community College High School Enrichment Program offers students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grades an opportunity to enroll in college courses and receive college credit for up to two courses per semester. Enrollment fees are waived, but students are responsible for purchasing their own college textbooks. Transportation IS NOT provided and students DO NOT receive high school elective credit for classes taken through the Educational Enrichment program. However, students have a wide range of courses to choose from and most of the classes are transferable to a CSU/UC campus. To qualify, students must meet the following requirements:
1. 11th and 12th grade student who is on-track for graduation and have a 2.5 minimum GPA (GPA is computed based on all courses completed, excluding PE) OR 10th grade student who is on-track for graduation and have a 3.0 minimum GPA (GPA is computed based on all courses completed, excluding PE
2. Approval from parents, principal, and high school counselor.

Clovis Community College: Summer Scholars Advanced College Academy (SSACA)

The Summer Scholars Advanced College Academy offers future 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students the opportunity to enroll in summer courses at the Clovis Community College Center. Similar to the High School Enrichment program mentioned above, enrollment fees are waived, but students are responsible for purchasing their own textbooks and supplies. Students are allowed to complete up to 2 courses during the 6 week summer session. To qualify, students must meet the following requirements:
1. Future sophomores with 3.0 minimum GPA
2. Future juniors or seniors with 2.5 minimum GPA 

Clovis Community College: Center Advantage Program (CCCAP)

The Clovis Community College Center Advantage Program (CCCAP) is an option for a limited number of Buchanan students during their senior year. Students take two pre-identified transferable courses per semester at Clovis Community College. Students who successfully complete all 4 courses will earn 12 general education (GE) college credits and 20 high school elective credits. Classes are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Enrollment fees are waived, but students are responsible for purchasing their own college textbooks.  

Courses offered are limited to four specific classes
Art 2 - Art Appreciation
Psychology 2 - General Psychology
History 2 - Western Civilization Since 1648
Sociology 1A - Introduction to Sociology

Interested students must complete the application process during the spring semester PRIOR to their senior year.

To qualify, students must meet the following requirements:
  1. Senior on-track for graduation with a 2.5 GPA or above
  2. Approval from parents, principal and high school counselor
  3. Must be enrolled in 4 classes at Buchanan High School

Advanced Placement (AP)

Advanced Placement (AP) classes offer a challenging and stimulation educational experience for college bound students. When compared to other high school courses, AP classes often take more time, require more work, and give greater opportunity for individual growth and accomplishment. In May, AP exams are administered and scored on a 5-point scale. Most major colleges and universities recognize scores of 3, 4, or 5 for college credit. The amount and type of credit awarded varies by institution.

Buchanan High currently offers 18 AP classes. Student enrolled in an AP courses are expected to take the corresponding AP exam in May. There is a $102 fee per AP exam. However, financial assistance is available to those who qualify.

Dual Enrollment

There are several "Dual Enrollment" classes that are available for Buchanan High School students. This gives students the opportunity to earn credit for HIGH SCHOOL and COLLEGE at the same time. See the chart at the bottom of the page to see the list of classes that are offered.


Uni-track

The Uni-track Program at California State University, Fresno allows dual enrollment for high school students, who can earn college credit while enrolled in an approved Uni-track course in high school. There are minimal student fees for these Uni-track courses. If you choose to participate in a high school program through California State University, Fresno, you will be held to the same standards, policies, regulations, and deadlines that govern all students enrolled at Fresno State.

Uni-track courses will earn college credit, and a permanent grade will be recorded on a California State University, Fresno transcript. Students can request a Fresno State transcript upon completion of the coursework.

Some Universities will not accept Uni-track course credit toward the degree.  We are also aware that some University of California campuses limit or prohibit Uni-track credit.

Restrictions for Uni-track Students

  • Must have a junior or senior standing at their high school.
  • Cannot earn both course credit and Advanced Placement (AP) exam credit when they attend Fresno State. If the student does not attend Fresno State, then they will have to check with their institution on possible restrictions.
  • May register for up to 8 units of academic credit, per term/semester. No student will be approved for additional units.
