California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)

California’s assessment program, the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), represents the next step in our state’s ambitious education remodeling project.

These assessments enable parents and teachers to know how well students are learning the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today’s world. Learn more about the new student assessments.

Understanding assessment scores
It’s important to remember that results from the assessments are only a component of our upgraded system, and just one way of measuring student progress, along with class assignments and report cards. Further adjustments will be needed along the way to help us make lasting progress – and both patience and persistence will be required to help our schools and students continue to succeed during this time of remodeling.
