I grew up just outside of Granite Falls. My family has lived in the area since you rode to town in a wagon drawn by a horse - or for generations. Most of my family have attended Granite Falls School, as a high school since the 1940's, a junior high school in the 70's and 80's, or as a middle school. 

This is my 16th year as a teacher. I have been in Caldwell County Schools for thirteen years. Teaching is my second career. I was in the accounting field for almost 20 years prior to returning to college to complete my degree in education. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle Grades Education from Appalachian State University and an Academically Gifted Education certificate from UNC Charlotte. I love teaching and only wish I had started years earlier. 

I love to read - anything. I encourage students to read as much as possible. I am a lifelong learner and encourage students to always be learning something. 

I enjoy being a teacher in the Granite Falls community. I am excited about my 6th grade team. I look forward to learning and teaching with my students this year.
