Chris Mayhew is the Music Teacher at Happy Valley Elementary School, where he teaches students from kindergarten through eighth grade. This is his sixth year as a public school teacher as he was formerly at Lincolnton Middle School, where he spent five years as the Band Director. Mr. Mayhew is also the Percussion Professor at Lenoir-Rhyne University, where this is his eighth year as an educator. At Lenoir-Rhyne University he runs the percussion studio, percussion ensemble, and marching percussion groups. He is a graduate of the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University where he has received his Masters of Music degree in Percussion Performance as well as two Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Music Performance. Mr. Mayhew also currently serves as a delegate on the Percussive Arts Society's University Student Committee and is a liaison for the Drum Set Committee.
