Hello!

My name is Janet Brooks and I am thrilled to be a part of the 6th grade teaching team at GFMS!  I am originally from Parkersburg, WV and have lived in Hickory for over 20 years.  My husband of 27 years, Greg, and I have four children (ages 24, 22, 20, 18).  

I have taught 5th, 6th, and 8th grades in West Virginia, Virginia, and South Carolina.  I also spent six years instructing school field trip classes at the Catawba Science Center in Hickory. Most recently, I taught 6th grade science and social studies in Catawba County.

I look forward to getting to know you all and working hard to hopefully instill a love for science and inquiry in each student!
